Dark Mode for Management Portal

1️⃣ Description of the idea

A dark/light mode toggle button in the Management Portal header that swaps the entire SMP between those themes.

2️⃣ Who is the target audience?

Developers and admins using our SMP day to day who love dark mode and also for people with visual sensitivity issues.

3️⃣ What problem does it solve?

Reduces eye strain during long sessions, improves accessibility for users with visual sensitivities, and aligns with modern dev tool expectations.

4️⃣ How does this impact the efficiency, stability, reliability, etc, of the product?

Modernizes look and feel of our SMP, improves developer comfort and reduces eye strain fatigue, and also potentially improving dev productivity.

5️⃣ Provide a specific use case or scenario that illustrates how this idea could be used in practice.

Sys Admin monitoring production systems during night shifts can switch to dark mode to reduce eye strain while reviewing system logs, configuring productions, or troubleshooting issues.

    This is a practical and much-needed enhancement for any modern management portal. A dark/light mode toggle directly improves accessibility, reduces eye strain during long admin sessions, and aligns the SMP with current developer UX standards. Features like this ultimately support better productivity and system monitoring efficiency.

    I've already voted for Dark Mode, but I really would prefer that this feature be generalized to support multiple themes.

    One of the requests I've received from multiple customers is to be able to clearly differentiate DEV, TEST, UAT and LIVE environments. The System Mode indicator doesn't stand out as much as those customers would like, and we've supplied them with a TamperMonkey "hack" to change the banner color based on the value of System Mode. When ISC gets done with modernizing the Management Portal, that hack will likely no longer work.

    Dark Mode would certainly be a theme, but might offer variants to support different System Modes.

    Hello, good morning! How are you?

    I have a visual impairment (amblyopia/lazy eye) which means I'm nearly blind in one eye. Like many people with visual difficulties, I find that bright white backgrounds and interfaces cause significant eye strain and fatigue. This makes it challenging to work with the Management Portal for extended periods.
