I would like to have a possibility to have a trial IRIS online available, for example, for 6+ months (during 1 semester). So that I can tell my students to go to https://..., start the dedicated server and do all their homework there. So that they don't need to install anything on their computer and do all their work online.
For example, this is done by MongoDB - anyone can register and get their Atlas cluster, it hibernates if it's not used for a long period of time, but you can spin it up when needed and continue from where you stopped. Super easy to use.
I know that there is an Online learning lab (and they are great and allow to extend the availability) but it's not an obvious solution and definitely doesn't sound like 6 months long solution.
Thank you for submitting the idea. The status has been changed to "needs review".
Stay tuned!
If you create a package in OEX and publish it on Online Demo Server
You have your server for you alone.
On the other hand as member of the community,
you get the community edition as Docker image with almost all features.
For students I suppose, should be some programms from InterSystems itself
But at least they already offers some cloud services.

There is also ability to quite easily run community or licensed version of IRIS in AWS for instance, not for free of course.
